Reli On Cool Mist Humidifier?

I bought a Reli On Cool Mist Humidifier, I took the filther out and it was wringing wet and it got all over the humidifier, will this damage it? What happens if I don't use a filther as I got a superb water filtherization system, over 6 filthers, including a chlorine filther so do I need the filther?
