What was Bruckmann's Malt Tonic?

I have a bottle of Bruckman's Malt Tonic that was given to me by my grandma. I really don't know anything about it other than the fact it was made by a brewing company in Cincinnati during the prohibition. It clearly states on the label that it is for medicinal purposes only and that it is not a beverage.
